When’s the last time you had a chance to be a tourist in your own city or explored a new pocket of your hometown? A staycation may be calling.

Ever dreamt of a vacation without the stress of long-distance travel? A getaway doesn’t always require flights or packing suitcases. Staycations, embraced by Gen Z and millennials, offer the chance to unwind in luxury hotels or cozy Airbnb stays—providing a refreshing break without the hassle of preparation.
One of the biggest reasons people choose staycations is convenience— skipping long car rides, avoiding airport stress, and dodging travel exhaustion. “It seems effortless, without having to travel miles just to stay overnight,” says Neha Tayal, 25, who runs the fashion label Vinraag in Rohini, Delhi. She prefers Airbnbs over traditional hotels for their stylish, homely feel. A typical 1BHK in South Delhi costs ₹4,500–₹6,000 per night, offering amenities like a fully equipped kitchen, free Wi-Fi, and access to a rooftop terrace with stunning city views.
Staycations have become a quick fix for burnout, offering an instant escape without the effort. For many, the charm isn’t just in avoiding travel—it’s about recharging in a peaceful environment. Vanshika Bansal, 23, an intern at Love Kiki in Noida, finds it the perfect break from daily life. “They give you time to relax, enjoy slow evenings, and spend quality time with loved ones,” she says.
Let’s be honest—the best part of a quick break is the VIP treatment. Luxurious hotel beds, breakfast buffets, swimming pools, spa treatments, and fluffy robes that feel too good to give back, just without the jet lag. “At first, I doubted if I could truly switch off during a staycation. With my office just a 15-minute drive away, the temptation to check emails was always lingering.” But when I finally gave it a try, it was pure bliss. “Staying at The Umrao Resort in Gurgaon for two days, which cost me and my family around ₹8,000 per night in January, was absolutely worth every penny.” The stay included luxurious facilities such as the Indriya Wellness Spa & Salon offering personalized treatments, a well-equipped fitness center overlooking the pool, and Thyme, an all-day dining restaurant serving a variety of cuisines. Supriya Nagpal, a 35-year-old office clerk at Deloitte, Gurgaon, and an influencer since 2020, with a following of 244K, found this perfect escape from her routine.

Skipping flights and long-distance travel may seem like a money-saver, but luxury hotels and boutique stays can still be pricey. A five-star staycation’s cost depends on the location and amenities, but many hotels offer special deals with perks like free meals, spa vouchers, and late checkouts, making the experience more affordable and enjoyable.
For example, JW Marriott Hotel New Delhi Aerocity, located near the airport, offers weekend retreat packages with perks like complimentary breakfast and spa credits, with prices ranging from ₹10,000–₹20,000 per night or more during peak seasons.
These quick getaways may not replace the thrill of exploring new cities and cultures, but they are a great alternative when time, and energy are limited. They provide a refreshing break from routine, offering luxury, and relaxation without the exhaustion of travel.
For those who love new experiences and adventure, a full-fledged vacation might be the way to go. But for anyone looking to unwind, reset, and escape the chaos without the stress of planning, it is absolutely worth it. So why wait for a plane ticket when paradise is just around the corner?
